WTF is TOG?

TOG stands "thermal overall grade" and essentially is used to refer to the warmth rating of baby sleepwear such as sleep sacks, swaddles, and pajamas.

TOG rating of baby sleepwear is determined through standardized lab testing.

TOG value for sleepwear indicates their warmth and insulation levels, helping parents choose the most suitable option based on room temperature and the baby's comfort.

A higher TOG rating indicates that the garment provides better insulation and will provide more warmth to the baby in colder temperatures, while a lower TOG is better for warmer climates.

Generally sleepwear ranges from a lightweight .05 TOG for warmer temps, and to 2.5+ TOG for colder temps.

TOG Cheat Sheet:

• 0.5 TOG= Room temp 75F+

• 1.0 TOG=Room temp 68-74F

• 2.5 TOG= Room temp 61-67F

• 2.5+ TOG= Room colder than 61F
