How To Run Your Life Like A Successful Business

From a business perspective, studies show that implementing preventative maintenance significantly reduces unplanned downtime. Equipment is less likely to fail unexpectedly, leading to more consistent production schedules.

A report by the U.S. Department of Energy found that predictive maintenance or planned downtime can reduce equipment downtime by 35-45% and increase production by 20-25%. Preventative methods work better to keep production running, we can apply this idea to our own lives.

In my line of work, we talk about something called “Disaster Recovery,” but let’s take preventative measures before failure.

Keeping up with maintenance on your car is more convenient and effective than waiting for a breakdown. So let’s treat ourselves similarly. For example, making time for routine date nights helps keep you out of the “roommate phase,” this is much easier than the reverse.

Take a break or use PTO to prevent burnout when you’re feeling run down, rather than pushing through and being less productive and resenting work.

So, what about us? The most important machines. And our homes? The most important “business.”

In September I’m working on implementing more preventative measures that can avoid disaster. A little up front effort can mean avoiding downfalls in life, uptick in happiness, productivity, and positivity.

Happy September Everyone!
