Liver Detox
By: Lorissa Smith

The liver plays a critical role in overall health, yet it’s often overlooked until symptoms begin to appear. Responsible for hundreds of functions, the liver works constantly to detoxify the blood, produce bile, metabolize nutrients, store energy, and regulate key hormones and proteins. When the liver becomes sluggish or overburdened, the body often sends subtle signals. These can include night sweats or sweating when you’re not hot or nervous, body odor, poor or blurry vision (as the eyes and liver are closely connected), migraines, vertigo, and even hot or burning feet at night. Other signs may include a lingering tickle cough, sensitivity to caffeine, hormonal acne, hair loss, ringing in the ears or tinnitus (often tied to blood sugar dysregulation affecting the liver), hemorrhoids, cherry angiomas, dry eyes, and skin tags. If nighttime sweating is present, it may point to a liver-related histamine issue, making it helpful to eliminate high-histamine foods.
Supporting the liver doesn’t have to be complicated. A simple liver flush using pantry staples can be an effective place to start. First thing in the morning, drink 4 ounces of organic pure apple juice, then wait 20 minutes and take 1 tablespoon of lemon juice mixed with 1 tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil (Les Cousines is a preferred option due to its purity and high polyphenol content). This can be done daily for one week, once a quarter or whenever you’re feeling sluggish. In addition to dietary support, therapies like acupuncture and fascia release can further support liver function, and working with a frequency medicine practitioner can help address the liver alongside the adrenals and any underlying viral stressors.
Herbal support can also play a meaningful role in a liver detox routine. Schisandra Supreme is a favorite for supporting both the liver and adrenals, while Reishi Supreme is a gentle option that is safe for toddlers and children. Tulsi Supreme is another supportive addition, often used to help the body adapt to stress while promoting overall balance. Together, these approaches—simple daily practices, targeted therapies, and supportive supplements—can help the liver function more efficiently and support overall well-being.
