Stomach Bug/Stomach Flu

By: Lorissa Violet

Stomach Bug/Stomach Flu

The stomach flu, often marked by nausea, vomiting, and dehydration, can benefit greatly from natural wellness practice and proper nourishment.

If you've been following me for a while then you know that my kids don't get sick; even going to school, going to play groups, going to the church classroom. And when one does catch something, we stop it in its tracks, and it doesn't spread to the next kid (or me).

A simple homemade electrolyte and “bug-stopping” drink can be made with 2 cups of room temperature filtered water or coconut water, 1/4 tsp salt, a squeeze of fresh lemon or orange, 1/2 tsp magnesium powder, and 1 tbsp honey (negate honey if baby is under 1 years old).

If you do suspect that someone is coming down with a stomach bug or the "stomach flu" the first thing I'd grab is Takesumi (linked below). I ALWAYS have this on hand; I travel with it is as well because of how effectively it stops stomach issues and food poisoning. I even give it if something is ingested that shouldn't be.

The next item I grab is Illicium which is a great antiviral and always knocks out a stomach issue (or other viral illness). Also linked below.

Additional support for my house would include Epsom salt baths with healing oils, like Elite Harmony, as well as getting outside for fresh air and sunlight, even in colder weather, to support overall recovery.

When it comes to diet, keeping it light with fasting (if possible), bone broth, or soups with soft, steamed foods would be mu approach.

Other products I rotate in my household are linked below.
